Monthly raffle was sparse. Let’s clean out our shops over Memorial Dayweekend…

There was no President’s Challenge from last month since it was our first meeting since Covid-19.
Bill Weber gave a demonstration on turning a Live Edge bowl. He also showed off his custom made “faceplate,” made by Chuck, a machinist on Case Road in Brookline, Michigan.

Monthly Newsletter from Len Coleman, President
It was so good to be able to meet again in May. We had a good turnout. Bill Weber gave a great presentation on turning a live edge bowl.
The AAW will be hosting a Virtual Symposium July 17-18. You can get more information on the symposium at https://www.woodturner.org/Woodturner/Events/Annual-Symposium—Conference/2021-Virtual-Symposium/Woodturner/2021-Virtual-Symposium/2021-Virtual-Symposium-Home.aspx?_zs=ReCib&_zl=NKsb2. You can also register at this site. Take a look at the list of presentations an give this symposium consideration.
Artilicious will be taking place again this year in downtown Adrian. It will be a one-day event, on Saturday, September 18, from 11:00 AM – 7 PM. We would like to have a booth again this year and do some turning demonstrations. Details still need to be worked out. Artilicious will also have the birdhouse auction in the library, so start working on your birdhouses to donate.
Our next meeting is June 12 at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church. Das Madhavan will be demonstrating how he makes a wave bowl. I will not be there since I will be in Columbus for my grandsons’ graduation celebration. Karen Finn has agreed to cover for me and lead the meeting.
As I have indicated at the last meeting, the officers of our club are now in the third year of our two year term. Our club bylaws call for a tenure of two terms. We really should be holding elections in the near future. Please consider running for one of these offices. You can be assured that the current officers will be around to assist you. Contact any of the officers if you have any questions.
The president’s challenge for the June meeting is to turn a live edge bowl.
Please bring items for show and tell and for the raffle.
Keep turning—safely
Len
