Meeting Minutes From Dave Finn, Secretary
August 14, 2021
The Meeting was called to order by Karen Finn at 10:05 a.m. Len is on vacation
There were 22 members present and 2 guests
Treasurer Rich Enders Report: Absent
Announcements included:
Len is continuing to improve the club website by researching software that will allow easy member access to “member-only” features
Adrian Artalicious is one day this year: September 18. We will have a booth, but this year it is two smaller tents instead of one large one. As before, we plan on having three lathes set up: two turning pens with the public, and one for members to demonstrate turning other items. We will need help setting up, hosting and turning in the booth, and tear-down.
The library Birdhouse Auction is also happening this year. We are all encouraged to donate a birdhouse to be auctioned off for a good cause. Contact the Adrian Public Library for details.
Snack sign-up sheet for 2021 is still being circulated: Al Goldstein has September 11; Jim Nickless has October 9
New Officers are needed this Winter! All current Officers have either “maxed out” according to the Bylaws, or have a desire to allow someone else the pleasure of serving the club. Only the official Office positions are being voted on. Support activities, such as Webmaster, Audio-Video guru, etc. that have been handled by officers are NOT being “tacked-on” as responsibilities of the new Officers.
Discussions included:
Dave and Karen Finn have sorted out our pen kits and blanks that were left over from previous Shows. We have 54 kits and blanks ready for action. It has been determined that we don’t have to purchase additional kits for this years’ Artalicious.
Safety: No mishaps reported
Scott Solsburg presented Show & Tell
Monthly raffle was better this month, with several items being donated. Don’t forget to bring items for the raffle next month!! Fall is coming, so it’s a great time to clear out the shop of all those tools you haven’t used and are collecting dust.
Snack Break followed, provided by Tom Jones

There was another good turnout—22 members and 3 guests—for the August meeting. Unfortunately, I could not attend. Thanks to Karen Finn for standing in for me. Tom gave a demonstration on tool sharpening and basic bowl turning
Artilicious will be taking place again this year in downtown Adrian. It will be a one-day event, on Saturday, September 18, from 11:00 AM – 7 PM. We will have a booth again this year and do some turning demonstrations. We had a signup sheet at the meeting. We will review are status at the September meeting. Artilicious will also have the birdhouse auction in the library, so start working on your birdhouses to donate. We will have more details later about when and where to turn in your birdhouses. You can bring your birdhouses to the September meeting and we get them to the show.
Our next meeting is September11 at 10:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church. I will be at the September meeting!
The president’s challenge for the September meeting is to turn a bowl or platter.
The demonstration for September is still being finalized. I’ll let you know when it is set.
Please bring items for show and tell and for the raffle.
Keep turning—safely
Len
